60-6...the Pitchers Fanlisting

Colome in MidlandJesus Colome made his major league debut on June 21st 2001, but I have been following his career for much longer.  I first saw him during the 1998 season when he was a fireball starter for the Modesto A's.  I was drawn to his ready smile, but his 100 MPH heater is what kept my attention.  After an eye opening season in A ball, he quickly rose though the A's ranks, till he was traded to the Devil Rays for Jim Mecir.  He made his major league with the Rays on June 21st, getting out the only batter he faced.  He returned to the mound 4 days later, pitchign 2 1/3 innings, giving up two unearned runs, only two hits, walking two, and striking out none.  His next appearance on June 28, he pitched another three innings, giving up one hit, no runs, and earned his first major league win.  The only hit he gave up against that outing in Boston was a bloop double to pinch hitter Brian Daubach in the ninth.  "I can throw 100 or 101," Colome said after the game. "Today I tried to locate it in the strike zone and relax. I'm very happy to get my first Major League win." Congrats to Jesus, and keep up the GREAT work!
